It takes about 47 days to reach Yamadharma. On the way, the Yamadootas torture the souls. The souls are afraid to hear those stories and ask them to give up. Still, Yamadootas does not listen to your words and keep beating you by whip and axes. After bringing them to Yama Rama Raja, they keep describing the series of sins you have committed and the punishment according to it.
In Garuda Purana, it is said that if the souls committed a minor mistake, their sins are forgiven when they prayed to God. Theft, killing, lying and deceiving them wouldn’t come under forgiveness and Yamadootas would punish you with torture.
