In 2002, a wealthy Chinese man paid 180,000¥ (28000$) just for 20 grams of Da Hong Pao rock tea. The Da Hong Pao is a Wuyi rock tea grown in the Wuyi Mountains and it is 30 times costlier than the gold.

According to legend, the mother of a Ming dynasty emperor was cured of an illness by this tea, and that emperor sent great red robes to wrap the four bushes from which that batch of tea originated. Six of the original bushes growing on a rock on the Wuyi Mountains and reportedly dating back to the Song dynasty, still survive today and are highly venerated.
